Background Design & Paint for short student film
This was my first time working for someone else. I helped a few senior students on their graduation film. I painted these backgrounds and was also allowed to design some of the smaller assents and clutter in the scenes as well.

Lead Background Designer & Colourist for school assignment
In this group project we were elected different roles based on our preferences and skills. I chose to be the visual designer and was the lead background designer and colour designer for our team.I created concept art and made a 3D model of the spaces we would use in order to make the process more efficient, consistant and accurate.
About me
Hello! My name is Mae McNamara. I'm an animation student and aspiring visual development artist.I'm currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands but am originally from Thailand. My work centres a lot around my mixed heritage (Thai/Irish), nature and colours. I’m currently working on expanding my subject matter to encapsulate other fascinations I have such as complex family dynamics, mental health, queerness and human decay. I strive to create immersive environments and characters through the use of lighting, perspective and specificity.I specialise in 2D animation, mostly working in Clip Studio Paint, whereas my illustration work is usually done in Procreate. Besides this, I'm also really interested in 3D animation and modelling in Blender as well as experimental animation with mixed media.

Background Paint
This was another graduation film I worked on and one the longest project I've been on as well. I painted several backgrounds for this short. I worked closely with the lead visual designer who acted as my supervisor throughout my time with them.
